The Oasis Health Club, a friendly and welcoming club, catering for all abilities and ages. With over 165 pieces of equipment we specialise in providing expert advice with fully qualified fitness instructors.
The club originally opened in March 1990 as the Body Studio, which means that as of today the club has been open for a total of 28 years. The building used to be a fish factory before the Body Studio took over. In August 1998, under new owners, the name was changed to the Oasis Health Club and obviously the name stayed the same since then. The new owners quickly went about renovating the club and in December 1998, a few months later, they turned the studio into the swimming pool and built a studio at the front of the building.
In March 2016 the club was again taken over by a new set of owners and they refurbished the club in September 2016. This latest refurbishment included top of the range Technogym equipment for the gym, a steam room to go alongside the swimming pool and a complete renovation of the reception area. This has transformed the club and if you used to be a member back in the day, you certainly won’t recognise it now.

Meet the Team
I have been working in the fitness industry for since March 1990, I started as a part time gym instructor and worked my way up the ladder as they say, and have been the general manager of the Oasis Health Club for the pass 17yrs, I have always had the passion for the industry and also benefit from keeping myself fit as I am entering to my 50 birthday next year.
I really enjoy keeping up to date with the latest fitness trends as well as interacting with the members, the members regularly feedback to me on how much they feel welcomed by all the team at the club, which I am very proud of as we do really have a great team and not forgetting all the other services we have on offer and how welcoming they are too, and feel lucky that I found the perfect job for me!.
I am also a true believer that with everything in life the effort you put in is what you get out, and I was always brought up to treat people in life how you want to be treated yourself and help people were you can, which has always stood me well in my work and personal life.
I have also been happily (well mostly) married for 23year to Ian who I first meet at the club as he was at the time also a gym instructor.
We both enjoy working out, walking our crazy chocolate Labrador called Barney, and spending time with friends & family.
I have been in the fitness industry for around 17 years and I have gained some vital life experiences during this time. I now hold a BSc honours degree in fitness and coaching as well as a higher national diploma in physiology.
My position at the club as assistant manager includes overseeing the smooth running of the gym and pool area as well as development of new and current gym staff. This position also involves the day to day running of the club in the absence of the general manager.
I have a passion for most sports which include football and running, with hobbies that include horses and fitness.
I feel that my greatest asset in the gym is cross fit, functional training and interacting with members discussing the physiology of exercise and effects it has on the body.
My home life is hectic at the moment with my son Finley who is now 2 years old, giving me the run around. I have also been happily married for 13 years to Emma whom I met at college at the age 18 whilst studying for my gym instructors course.
I have worked here, in total for 23 years now. I have spent the last 12 being Studio Coordinator. I like getting to know a good mix of members and seeing so many of them achieve their goals. I have 3 lovely children that definitely keep me busy so when i do have some spare time i’m either in the gym or walking Nellie, my puggle.
Sales and Membership
In total i have worked for about 11 years in the fitness industry, in lots of different positions. I have been here at Oasis for around 6 years now. I love getting in the gym and keeping fit, i really enjoy spinning and circuits to get a proper sweat on. I did a boxing event for charity last year and want to do a skydive for charity, hopefully this year.
Marketing and Membership
I was a duty manager here at Oasis for just over a year, before moving into the Marketing and Membership department. Before this I spent about 8 years in an office job in a processing role. As well as working for Oasis I’m doing a distance learning degree in Business and Sports management so I’ve got a strong interest in sports development and both the physical and mental benefits it can have on children and adults. It’s taken three years so far, so I will be glad to finally finish in October. I spend a lot of my spare time in the gym and if I’m not in the gym I’m at the local rink playing ice hockey.
