More than 50 dedicated gym goers joined Oasis Health Club, Grimsby to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Since its establishment in 1998 the club on Orwell Street, Grimsby has seen the addition of a swimming pool, a purpose built studio and more recently in 2016 a complete renovation. Across the two decades many members have passed through the doors but Friday’s guest list honoured those most loyal members.
With almost 1,000 years of combined membership amongst the guests the conversation was a lively debate on fitness regimes, the key to a long life and remembering the changing faces of the club. Robert and June Marshall have visited the club together, three days a week, for the last twenty years. Robert will be soon be turning 90 but he assures that his gym routine will not be broken at this next milestone.
‘I still do my own gym circuit’ he said ‘Exercise has always been kept up throughout my life and I enjoy it!’
Alan and Jo Nesbitt have been married for 57 years and half of their marriage has been spent visiting the gym together. ‘The oldies come in the morning’ Jo told Grimsby Live ‘The treadmill, bike and rower are my personal favourites!’
On the event, Manager Tracey Mills said ‘This is a chance for us to celebrate with our most loyal members. We wanted to give something back and invite them to share this moment with the club. In the twenty years we have had lots of changes but they have remained an integral part of what Oasis health club is about, fitness, friendship and being part of the oasis family.
